MRS. RACHEL.heic
Rachel McGuire
M.A., Licensed Professional Counselor

Raised in North Texas, Rachel received her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and then attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where she obtained a masters degree in clinical psychology. During that time, she enjoyed both research and direct clinical care and considers her internship at the UT Southwestern Family Studies Center a turning point in her training. While there, she gained valuable insight in recognizing and treating common family patterns.

Whether working with individuals or couples, Rachel incorporates a blend of “Family Systems” work with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) elements to help clients reach their goals. The Family Systems theory views the family as an emotional unit and believes a change in one person’s behavior is predictably followed by reciprocal changes in the behavior of other family members. CBT helps clients identify distorted thinking patterns that are getting in the way of leading a more fulfilling life.

Rachel has been a tremendous aid to her clients for over 15 years in the areas of Marriage, Family, Children, Teens and Individuals. She deeply understands the specific challenges that each of those areas present.

Rachel is highly intuitive and empathetic. Her clients love the way she listens and understands their problems. They also love the sound, practical advice that she gives. Over the years, Rachel has become a trusted advisor to many people in the Dallas metroplex.
